Amir’s return to cricket: Ehsan Mani supports Ramiz Raja’s stance

LAHORE: Former President International Cricket Council (ICC) Ehsan Mani on Tuesday supported the stance of former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja, who has criticized Pakistan Cricket Board  (OCB) for fast-tracing tainted pacer Mohammad Amir’s return to international cricket.

According to private TV channel, Mani said that Ramiz Raja’s stance on Muhammad Amir’s return to international cricket was right.

He said that inclusion of tainted players in the team would create problem.

Mani also opposed the ‘Big Three’ in cricket, saying that the hegemony of the so-called Big Three would hurt game’s interests.

Earlier, Former Pakistan captain turned commentator Ramiz Raja had criticised the lobbying for the return of paceman Mohammad Amir, banned for spot-fixing, saying his return would expose the team to the “virus”.

Amir, along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif , was banned in a spot-fixing scandal on Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), at the request of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), earlier this month revised its anti-corruption code, paving the way for all the banned players to feature in first-class cricket a few months before their bans expire.

Ramiz questioned why Amir’s return was fast-tracked.

“Why is the world so keen to see Amer back? The managers of the game, who for whatever reason are trying to fast-track him into the very system that he had wronged, have obviously not experienced the pangs of betrayal and cheating that fixing causes,” wrote Raja in his cricinfo column.
