Treason case: Special court partially accepts Musharraf’s plea to include abettors

ISLAMABAD: Special court trying the former military dictator General (redt) Pervez Musharraf in high treason case has partially accepted his application  seeking inclusion of abettors in November 3, 2007 emergency plus.

The court directed the federal government to resubmit its complaint in the treason case after including the names of former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former law minister Zahid Hamid, former chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and other office holders at the time of the November 3 emergency.

Political pundits view the development will implicate a number of high profile civilians and armed personnel in the treason trial.

The three member special court is being headed by Justice Faisal Arab.

The court has ordered federal government to submit its reply in 15 days as well as complete re-investigation of the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pervez Musharraf had submitted a petition seeking court order to include all those who abetted in imposition November 3, 2007 emergency plus.

The special court had reserved the decision on Musharraf’s application on October 31, which was announced on Friday.

It is to be mentioned here that a member of the special court Justice Yawar Ali wrote dissenting note.

The court while announcing the decision on Musharraf application adjourned further hearing till December 9, 2014.
