2nd test: Resilient Sarfaraz fights back to reduce New Zealand lead

DUBAI:  Resilient Sarfaraz Ahmed fought back to reduce the lead of New Zealand on the fourth day of second test  in Dubai, as the wicket keeper batsman scored a brilliant 100 to put an unbroken partnership of 65 for the last wicket with Rahat Ali.

Pakistan is trailing 25 runs of Kiwis first innings lead of 304 with just one wicket in hand. Sarfraz is playing on 108 not out with Rahat Ali providing firm support at the other end on eight.

Earlier, when Pakistan started the forth day play Pakistanwith 281/6 , New Zealand’s Tim Southee struck twice to disturb Pakistani ambition of building up a good partnership.

Earlier on day three, Pakistan saw off the first session without losing any wicket as Younis Khan and Azhar Ali shared a brilliant 113-run stand for the third wicket, recovering from an early blow of losing both the openers at a score of 32.

But New Zealand got four wickets in the next two sessions to press home their claims for a useful lead and in turn improve their chances for a series-levelling win.
