ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army troops deployed to guard sensitive installations and important buildings in the federal capital’s Red Zone have been called back, private Express TV reported.
According to the channel, the troops from III brigade, who were earlier deployed in Red Zone to guard Parliament’s House, President’s House, Prime Minister’s House, Diplomatic Enclave, PTV and other building of important national institutions besides sensitives installations, had returned to barrack in phased withdrawal.
Following the troops withdrawal, the security of Red Zone has been handed over to the concerned security agencies.
The channel quoted unnamed officials in Interior Ministry, who confirmed the withdrawal of Army troops from Islamabad. However, according to the officials, troop can be recalled anytime whenever such necessity arises.
It is to be mentioned here that troops from Pakistan Army were deployed in Islamabad in the wake of ongoing Zarb-e-Azb military operation in North Waziristan on July 24, 2014 by invoking article 245 of the constitution.
