Mudgal panel exonerates former BCCI chief Srinivasan of IPL match-fixing charges

New Delhi: Justice Mukul Mudgal panel has exonerated N Srinivasan of match fixing charges, saying that Srinivasan was not involved in match-fixing and did not attempt to scuttle the probe into corruption in IPL.

According to Indian media, parts of   Mukul Mudgal panel’s report was made public by the Supreme Court on Monday.

However, the reports said that the court took note of the fact that Srinivasan and the IPL governing council – including CEO Sundar Raman – were aware of betting in the tournament but failed to take action.

The inquiry report finding paves paves the way for N. Srinivasan to return to BCCI enabling him even to seek a second term as president.

Srinivasan was among the 13 names probed by the Supreme Court-appointed inquiry committee led by former judge Mudgal.

On Friday, Supreme Court had revealed the names of Srinivasan, his son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings team owner Gurunath Meiyappan, Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra and former IPL CEO Sundar Raman among the “non-playing” members who were being probed. The four were served notices and the next hearing is scheduled on November 24.

Gurunath has already been indicted by the Mudgal panel for betting and sharing team information.
