ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan would continue to fully support a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan.
The President said this while meeting with his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani on Friday in Aiwan-e-Saddar.
He said that close cooperative relations with Afghanistan based on mutual respect and trust remains a high priority in Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Press Secretary to the President Saba Mohsin Raza said that the two presidents exchanged views on issues ranging from bilateral relations to further cementing mutual cooperation and from the common challenges to further strengthening economic, trade and people to people contacts for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.
Mamnoon said that the two countries should work together to further strengthen parliamentary, academic, media and civil society contacts.
The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani expressed desire of the Government and people of Afghanistan to further strengthen bilateral relations with the people and the Government of Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.
He thanked President Mamnoon Hussain for warm welcome extended to him by the Government of Pakistan.
At the end, the President also hosted dinner in honour of Afghanistan’s President at Aiwan-e-Sadr The dinner was attended by Federal Ministers, Services Chiefs, Parliamentarians, Ambassadors, business representatives and senior officials.
