Abu Dhabi test: Pakistan reduce New Zealand to 121/7

ABU DHABI: New Zealand top order collapsed against Pakistan’s  inexperienced but talented spin-cum-pace battery in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed stadium on fourth day of the first test, as Kiwis managed only 121 runs for the lost of seven wickets.

The Kiwis while facing a mammoth 480 runs target, failed to put any resistance to Pakistan’s young and spirited spin-cum-pace battery.

Leggie Yasir Shah and pacer Rahat Ali shared two wicket apiece while Muhammad Hafeez, Imran Khan and Zulqarnain Babar took one wicket each to reduce New Zealand to 117/6 in 32 overs in the last session of the day.

Earlier Pakistan declared its second innings at 175/2 on fourth day of the first test against New Zealand , following a brilliant 100 knock by opener Muhammad Hafeez.

Hafeez scored his first century in the Test, after almost two years without, as he helped Pakistan to post a big total for the Kiwis to chase.

If chased successfully by the Kiwis, it will be record.

Pakistan began the day with the intention of scoring quickly to inflate their lead, and Hafeez played the leading role, with sensible supporting acts from Azhar Ali and Younis Khan.
