Younis, Misbah guide Pakistan past 500 runs

ABU DHABI:  The quick half centuries from the two most experienced players, Younis Khan and skipper Misbahul Haq, driven Pakistan past the impressive figure of 500 runs in the first innings of the first test in Abu Dhabi.

Though New Zealand took  two wicket in the day’s play, but the dismissals were not enough to restrain the top-up batting line up  from their course towards a huge first-innings total

Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali put up   a partnership of 169 – the first time in Test cricket that Pakistan had 150-plus stands for the first two wickets – after which Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq accelerated the innings towards an inevitable declaration in the final session.

Both Younis and Misbah are unbeaten at the crease with both scoring half centuries.  It is expected that Pakistan might declare the inning in the last session.
