KARACHI: Former Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Leader Murad Ali Shah in on the course to become Chief Minister of the province, with his bid to reach Sindh Assembly uncontested become certain on Monday as all candidates contesting bye-election on PS-73 Sehwan withdrew their nomination papers in his favour.
Murad Ali Shah could not contest last year’s general election for holding dual nationality and was appointed as Advisor to CM on Finance after PPP formed Sindh government following electoral victory.
As incumbent Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah’s performance as chief executive of the province has been utter failure, sources said that PPP leadership was mulling to bring in-house change to install a young and energetic man as Chief Minister so that the provincial government’s service delivery could be improved.
The sources said that the PPP leadership gave green signal to Murad Ali Shah, following which he renounce his foreign nationality and one of his relative vacated Sehwan seat for him to be elected as MPA so he could be made chief minister of the province.
As all the candidates withdrew their nomination papers in favour of Murad Ali Shah, he is all set to become MPA unopposed from PS-73 Sehwan.
Murad Ali Shah is the son of former Sindh chief minister and PPP leader late Abdullah Shah.
