ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman on Thursday announced that he would end sit-in if a nonpartisan inquiry proved the last year’s general elections were not rigged.
The PTI head Imran Khan was addressing to the participants of the sit-in at D-Chowk Islamabad.
Imran stated that he was not referring to a ‘judicial commission’ the formation of which was announced by the prime minister himself during a televised address to the nation on August 13.
He cleared that he was talking about an independent inquiry by the apex court and not less than that adding that no one should be able to influence the inquiry committee in question.
In a joint press conference with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq on Wednesday, Imran had said that a Supreme Court (SC) probe into the alleged election rigging would be acceptable to PTI given it was completed within a stipulated period.
Imran elaborated that it did not mean that the PTI was inching back their key demand for Nawaz’s resignation because the government would not allow an unbiased investigation as long as Sharif was sitting in the premier’s office.
