Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp helping ISIS, Britain spy alleges

LONDON: The new head of Britain’s electronic eavesdropping agency says the US-based social media like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp are helping the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants but the technology companies are deny about their misuse.

The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) chief Robert Hannigan said that British intelligence agencies knew that ISIS extremists used messaging services through the social media to reach their fellows with ease.

“However, the US-based social media have become the command-and-control networks of choice for terrorists and criminals, who find their services as transformational as the rest of us,”

Terrorist propaganda is not a new on the internet. The popularity of the ISSI group is very high on the social media in the world.
