ABU DHABI: Pakistan defeated Australia by 356 runs in the second and final test match of the series at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium on Monday.
Australia, chasing a huge total of 603 runs, managed only 246. Steven Smith batted beautifully for his 97 while David Warner scored 58 runs.
Zulfiqar Babar picked up five wickets for Pakistan. Yasir Shah grabbed three and Hafeez took two.
With this victory Misbah ul Haq became the most successful Pakistan skipper in the history of Test cricket. Pakistan also climbed to the third spot in the ICC ranking.
Pakistan had set a humongous target of 603 runs against Australia on Sunday. Skipper Misbah ul Haq played a blinder of 101 runs just facing 56 deliveries while Azhar Ali contributed with 100 runs. Both batsman remained unbeaten as the skipper decided to declare the innings at 293 for three.
Mitchell Johnson picked up two wickets for Australia.
First Innings:
Pakistan declared first innings after scoring 570 runs on loss of six wickets thanks to Younis Khan’s marvelous 213 runs along with Azhar Ali who scored 109 runs while skipper Misbah ul Haq contributed 101 in the first innings.
Mitchell Starc picked up two wickets for Australia.
Australia in reply only managed to score 261 runs. Mitchell March scored 87 runs while skipper Michael Clarke made 47 runs.
Imran Khan Picked up three wickets for Pakistan.
Misbah ul Haq got the Player of the Match award.
The awards for the Best Batsman and the Man of the Series were given to Younis Khan.
