Electricity bills to be distributed through SMS: Abid Sher Ali

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali, has said that electricity supplying companies have joined hands with him to use modern technology for metre reading and distribution of bills.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA made this announcement at a press conference on Saturday.

The Minister said that to minimise electricity theft, surveys would be conducted on Union Council level with help of external auditors.

Ali further said that customers would be allowed to pay their bills in three installments and that survey report would be submitted to the National Assembly.

Abid Sher Ali said that Sindh government owed Rs56 billion to electricity distribution companies; Azad kashmir Rs37 billion and Balochistan government Rs70 billion. He said that gas power plants would be established to produce 1500MW to 2000MW within two to three months.
