Spinners help Pakistan thrash Australia by 221 runs in first Test

DUBAI: Pakistan thrashed Australia by 221 runs in the first Test match of their two-Test series at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday evening.

Left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar took seven wickets in the Test, two in the first innings and five in the second.

Debutant leg-spin bowler Yasir Shah also took seven wickets, three in the first innings and four in the second.

With this win, Pakistan left India behind in ICC rankings. This is Pakistan’s second consecutive win against Australia.  Pakistan beat Australia in the second Test of their two-match series in England under the captaincy of Salman Butt in 2010.

Younis Khan got the man-of-the-match award for his two centuries in the match. He scored 106 in the first innings and 103 not out in the second.

Besides, Sarfraz Ahmad scored 109 in the first innings. Ahmed Shehzad scored 131 in the second innings.
