Nine TTP militants killed in clash with police in Karachi

 KARACHI: As many as nine Taliban insurgents were killed on Sunday in an exchange of fire with police in Karachi, police said.

The clash between police and banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP|) broke out in the Mian Khan Goth area near the National Highway after police received intelligence information about the presence of the (TTP) militants in a hideout.

As police reached the area the terrorists opened fire on police after they were surrounded, forcing us to retaliate, senior local police official and SSP Malir Rao Anwar said.

He said that nine terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire adding an explosives-packed rickshaw and a large cache of weapons were also recovered from the militants hideout.
