First punishment over not following right to information in Pakistan

LAHORE: Punishment has been given in failure to obey rights of information act for the first time in the history of Pakistan.

According to the details, Government Islamia School Vehari Teacher Arif has asked to provide seniority list of teacher from Education District Officer (EDO).

The EDO did not provide the information to the Vehari teacher and taking notice of non implementation on rights to information Punjab Information Commissioner Ahmed Ali has ordered to cut one month salary of the EDO as punishment.

It was first punishment in the Pakistan history that government officer has been punished over not following right to information.
