OTTAWA: Firing incident near Canadian parliament on Wednesday (today) killed a soldier and incident resulted into closure of the parliament, media reported.
Later an armed man was gunned down by the Canadian law enforcement agencies in a counter attack while another assailant was on the loose.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper was safely escorted from the scene, his spokesman said.
The man had shots fire at war memorial in Ottawa and outside the Parliament.
Two Canadian networks and at least one member of Parliament reported that the soldier had died. Ottawa Hospital said it had received two patients who were in stable condition.
The first shots Wednesday were reported just before 10 a.m. at the war memorial, steps away from Parliament.
