Government decides not to increase power tariff

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has decided not to increase  existing power tariff, PM house spokesman said.

The decision has been taken on the instruction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The current tariff of 11.52 rupees will remain unchanged. National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has suggested increased new tariff of 13.80 rupees for the year 2013-2014.

Now government has decided to keep current power tariff unchanged.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced protest against rise in power tariff throughout the country.
