IHC suspends lower court’s order for FIR’s registration against PM, others

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday suspended the order of a session court for registration of FIR against 11 persons including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over firing at Pakistan Awami Tehreek protesters in Islamabad.

A single-member IHC bench, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui while hearing a plea of the IG Islamabad for removal of his name from the FIR of the firing incident on the Constitution Avenue suspended the session court’s order.

The session court of Islamabad on September 15 on a plea of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) had issued orders for registration of FIR on charges of murder and attempt to murder against the prime minister and 10 other top officials over the killings of the PAT workers on August 31, the day clashes had broken out between protesters and police in Islamabad’s Red Zone.
