Woman officer allegedly commits self-immolation in Lahore

LAHORE: A woman  officer Nabiha Chaudhry of accounts and audit department of Punjab allegedly committed self- immolation in Lahore on Wednesday, police said.

According to the police, investigations are under way to ascertain whether she committed self- immolation or not.

Commissioner Lahore Rashid Mahmood Langarial said that police and administration were collecting evidence regarding the incident and after her autopsy it would be clear what happened to her.

She was an under-training CSP officer, hailing from Karachi.

The commissioner said that she had attended all the classes of the day.

The police also said that she had ordered a servant to bring petrol from the market. At the time of incident her office door was locked from inside.

The media report also stated that Nabiha’s father Saleem Chaudhry who was Principal of Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, was also murdered in Karachi in 2005.

Her maternal grandmother lives in Samanabad Lahore while her mother lives in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area and she is a teacher.

She did her BE Electronics from the NED University of Engineering and Technology.

Nabiha got top position in whole of country in her C.S.S exams.

She also ran a welfare school in Mirpurkhas. She was a die-hard supporter of PTI and remained president of the student wing of the party.

She quit political activities after joining government office.
