7.4 magnitude Earthquake jolts El Salvador

LOS ANGELES: An Earthquake of 7.4 magnitude has struck El Salvador, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to United States Geological Survey (USGS), 7.4 magnitude El Salvador today October 13, 2014 began just after 9:51 pm local time. The quake was deep. Reps tell news that the quake started forty-four miles below sea level.

Damage assessment is pending.

According to Reuters, warning center said ‘Tsunami waves’ are possible after El Salvador quake.

In September 2012, several quakes struck the region. One quake was sixty-four miles south of Puerto El Triunfo. The quake also erupted seventy miles south of Usulutan and seventy-three miles southwest of San Rafael Oriente.
