KP CM, Governor celebrate Eid on different days

PESHAWAR: The controversy of celebrating two Eids in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister is celebrating Eid today as per the announcement of the unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Masjid-e-Mahabat Khan while Governor KP will celebrate Eid on Monday as per the official, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.  

It has now become routine that in parts of KP people celebrate Eid a day before the other parts of the country.

As such Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated today (Sunday) in parts of  KP and Federal Administered Tribal Areas (F ATA).

Eid congregations were organised in Bannu, Hangu, Kohat, Mardan, D I Khan, Charsadda, and some areas of Peshawar.

Eid congregation at Masjid-e-Mahabat Khan was the biggest in Peshawar where a large numbers of people offered Eid prayers along with many politicians.

After  Eid prayers, people slaughtered sacrificial animals to commemorate the sacrifice of  Hazrat Abraham (AS).

In other cities of Pakistan, Eid will be celebrated on Monday.

The federal government has announced three public holidays for the annual festival –from Oct 6 (Monday) to Oct 8 (Wednesday).

Muslims in Saudi Arabia, USA, England and other European countries celebrated Eid on Saturday.
