ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) of Pakistan on Thursday showed its anger on the failure of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) government to hold local bodies (LB) polls.
The SC’s three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, heard the LB polls case on Thursday.
The court also asked advocate generals of Punjab, Sindh and KP what initiatives have been taken for holding of LB polls so far in their provinces.
The SC bench also issued notices to the three provinces to submit their reply in 15 days over not holding of LB polls.
Additional advocate general KP remarked that SC in its verdict regarding local body elections had authorized Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to carry out delimitation for LB polls.
The apex court expressed anger and told the KP counsel that that order was meant for Sindh and Punjab, not for KP.
The SC bench also remarked that there is contradiction in KP government actions and sayings.
