Imran sends reference to NA speakers for disqualification of 3 dissident MNAs

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has sent a reference for disqualification of three PTI MNAs for violation of party discipline as per Article 63 of the constitution, as the members had refused to resign from the house as per the party’s decision to mount pressure on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to quit.

The reference has been sent to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who will forward it to Election Commission of Pakistan for formal notification to de-seat the PTI rebels including Gulzar Khan, Nasir Khattak, and Musarat Zaib, if he finds the reference as per the relevant law.

Imran stated that all three members violated party discipline and were subsequently served show-cause notices, but failed to furnish satisfactory response.

It is to be mentioned here that before launching the ongoing sit-in movement to topple Nawaz Sharif-led PML-N government, PTI had asked all its members of assemblies to submit resignation from NA and provincial assemblies with the party leadership so that these could be used to mount pressure on the government. However, three MNAs refused to submit resignation with the party leadership and revolt against the party.
