KARACHI: Huge blast rocked city’s elite area Defense, PECHS and other areas of metropolitan city Karachi, local media reported on Thursday.
According to police, the blast occurred on Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Farooq Awan’s house near Gizri grave yard.
At least 2 police personnel were killed while 6 were reportedly injured including SSP Farooq Awan in the blast.
Rescue teams rush the spot and shifted the injured to the local medical center while police cordoned off the area and started investigations.
According to reports, the motor cycle hit the Farroq Awans bullet proof car which was given to him after he received security threats.
Targeted police van has completely been destroyed ;Now it is confirmed by police it was suicide attack.
About 50 to 100 kilo gram explosive component was used in the attack, according to SSP Raja Umer Khattab.
One body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
