ECP decides to amend in electoral laws for general election

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to amend in electoral laws for general election on September 23, Tuesday (today).

ECP sent the draft of suggestions to Electoral Reform Committee today.

The suggestions are as under:

  • President of Pakistan would not announce the date of general election.
  • The government will announce the date for election with consultation of ECP.
  • Returning Officers will work under the supervision of ECP.
  • To ban on transfer of vote before 90 days of polling.
  • Time of scrutiny for candidates should be increased from seven to 15 days.
  • Election expense should be increased for national and provincial assemblies.
