Naval dockyard attack might reaction of Operation Zarb-e-Azab,

ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Naval dockyard in Karachi was attacked on September 6 adding that Naval forces thwarted the attack successfully killing three of miscreants.

In his briefing to  joint session of the parliament defense minister said that seven accomplices of miscreants have been arrested so far and investigation is underway and more details could not be informed as it might affect the investigation.

He informed the house that one of the miscreants was ex naval officer who was discharged from his duties in 2013.

The minister also told that  heavy weapons were discovered from the militants that included five 9 mm pistols, three Kalashnikov, four suicide jackets, 24 hand cuffs.

Internal aid to miscreants for the attack could not denied, the minister added.

About Sumangli, he said that reinforcement forces timely encountered the attack on the night of 14th August. He said four terrorists were killed in the operation no loss of life was reported in Sumangli airbase except minor injuries to some security personnel.

Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy bravely thwarted  attacks on Sumangli airbase in Quetta and Naval Dockyard in Karachi  respectively.

The minister said that terrorists in both attempts remained failed in damaging strategic assets.
