Thousands of people go homeless due to flood: NDMA report

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday discussed National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) report about the situation of flood affected areas in Punjab at Joint Session of Parliament.

Khwaja Asif said concerned agencies including NDMA, PDMA and district administrations are working tirelessly to cope with flood situation.

“The floods have partially damaged 1242 houses while completely sweeping away 191 houses” Asif said.

“1053 villages have been affected by rains and floods while standing crops on 325,000 have been damaged.

“The floods have affected a population of about 436,000 and over 18200 people have been evacuated” he added.

“Over 450 health centers have been established for the flood affectees” he added more.
