PM visits flood-hit areas of AJK

RAWALAKOT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to inspect flood-hit areas on Monday.

Chief Secretary AJK briefed him about destruction occurred due to flood and rains as well measures taken by the government for relief and rescue services to victims.

It was told to PM that as many as 68 people were killed due to flood and rains in the AJK adding that 10 bridges were destroyed as well as water supply schemes were also damaged.

Briefing told to premier that rains destroyed basic structure and houses were severely damaged.

Land sliding also occurred due to heavy rain and flood which caused closure of connecting roads and damaged to bridges.

 The PM distributed cheques among the flood and rain victims.

At the occasion, the premier said that it is duty of state to provide compensation to the people for damages.

He said that his government will make AJK as tourism destination.
