The politicians have surrendered once again, Javed Hashmi rightly said. One does not need to be a PML-N supporter to criticize the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) for their acts. The two have acted as villains in this whole drama.
There is no doubt that the PML-N’s conduct has not been upright. It is the height of injustice that so many people get killed in a clash with police and no FIR is registered for several weeks. Besides, had they acceded to the demand of PTI for probe into rigging allegations in four constituencies, we would not have reached this point.
That all three parties — including one in government and one the second largest opposition in the parliament — go to the Army to have their disputes settled amply proves that democracy in our country has still not taken roots in the country.
All those who had pinned their hopes on Imran’s PTI should know that this is not their victory. This is victory of only those forces who do not want the masses to choose their rulers.
There were provisions in the law to tackle these problems. Had these three parties followed them, we the voters would not have lost our power to those who wield the guns.
