KP govt achieves new milestone against corruption

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has collected a significant success during its campaign against corrupt officials in authoritative departments.


Director of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Ziaullah Toru, revealed that his department had arrested 302 government officials from various departments.

Toru said that Rs300 million has been recovered during the anti-corruption campaign led by KP government in last two months.

He admitted hurdles created created by lawmakers of his own department, however, high-level support has played major role to curb corruption in the province.

The detained persons include governmental employees and officers after given free hand to the department by Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak who had announced to increase the ACE staff, he said.

The ACE director uncovered the latest anti-corruption milestone before the media while addressing a open forum in Circuit House on Thursday.

The event was attended by lawyers, contractors, revenue officials and members of civil society.

Future plans:

The ACE has planned to expand its role to stop timber smuggling from the province via KP govt’s policy to conserve forests, as well as setting a share for forest owners.

ACE also emphasising on fraudulent in public goods and medicines at the basic health units and other hospitals across KP province.
