Massacres in the Middle East

In 2013, Egypt’s public squares were awash in blood of Democratic Government’s supporters.

On July 3, 2013, the military deposed Egypt’s first elected civilian president Mohamed Morsy, protests against military coup erupted. Military forces killed protesters brutally.

Now, after a year, Human Rights Watch report, “The Raba massacre and mass killings of protesters in Egypt” has appeared with 186 blood soaked pages.

Tragedy and terror are evident on every single line. Report says everything was according to plan:

“The brutal manner in which security forces carried out the Rabaa and al-Nahda dispersals appears to reflect policies that Egyptian authorities at highest levels implemented after weeks of planning.” (p95).

Report simply holds Dictator Sisi personally responsible for Rabaa massacre.

It provides in detail the involvement of Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim.Police Special Forces head Medhat Menshawy also played important role.

Moreover, according to the report military apparatus and police systematically and intentionally used excessive lethal force in killings of protesters on a scale unprecedented in Egypt.

Author of the HRW report Omar Shakir says that the massacre of Morsy’s supporters was undoubtedly premeditated and planned.

In the conclusion, report says that Rabaa massacre could well amount to crimes against humanity.

British barrister and international law expert Toby Cadman supports this report thus, “Human Rights Watch reports generally have a great deal of credibility; it is something that lawyers will be able to use in ensuring a process of accountability in Egypt,” Indeed, it should not be astonishing to learn that Egypt is in the grip of Human Rights’ violators.

However, it is shocking to realize that this report has no voice around the world.

Champions of democracy’s deafening silence on this report raise a valid question:

do democracies mean massacres in The Middle East? From Syria to Egypt, democracy is not welcome. why?

After reading HRW report, some simple realities are clear.

Now it would be correct to assume that Western democratic values are not universal or international.

They are just national and regional. Western democracy is not for Middle Eastern lands. Western human rights are not permissible in Middle East.

Especially, democracies are not acceptable in Gaza and Egypt.

Really, Egypt and Gaza are in search of Human rights and justice.

Egypt situation suggests that there is a need to find any other political system to prevail peace and prosperity.

Gaza and Egypt really need Western suggestions for suitable political system. In this regard, World Powers can help Middle Eastern people to find the peaceful environment: A massacre-free society.

Otherwise, people with popular support will have to find their own way to get rid of this situation.
