Federer snatches Ferrer’s sixth Cincinnati title

MASON: Swiss tennis star, World number three Roger Federer on Monday won his sixth Cincinnati title defeating David Ferrer in final at the Western and Southern Open.

The 33-year-old Swiss man won the three sets scoring 6-3 1-6 and 6-2 against 32 year-old Spanish rival.

Ferrer after losing first set 6-3 against Federer, made a strong comeback in the second set by winning 1-6 but couldn’t manage to dominate in the third set.

“I’ve played some good tennis here over the years, so it’s really nice to come back and win it again,” Federer said.

“The whole tournament was really good for me.”

It was the former world number one’s first Masters title since 2012, when he also won in Cincinnati.

This is the 80th career title for the great tennis star Roger Federer.
