USB device is hacker’s best tool, new research will change the way we love our USBs

LONDON: All of us use USB devices and feel happy when we hear their storage capacity is increasing day by day but now this happiness will not last much because researchers have found a basic flaw in all USBs that can make them very dangerous to use.

According to researchers USBs  can be used to hack into personal computers in a new class of attacks against which all known security protections, are useless.

A top computer researcher ,Karsten Nohl, chief scientist with Berlin’s SR Labs, noted that hackers could load malicious software very easily in these USB devices because they have no built-in shields against any such attack.

“You cannot tell where the virus came from. It is almost like a magic trick,” said Nohl, whose research firm is known for uncovering major flaws in mobile phone technology.

Now that this flaw has been made public, USBs will be the best tools for hackers. So whoever uses USB in future will be risking his or her data.
