GLASGOW,Scotland: An Australian weightlifter, Francois Etoundi, was sent behind bars after he indulged in altercation with another athlete at Commonwealth games’ village in Glasgow on Wednesday morning.
A member of Australian team was held by the security officials over his alleged involvement in altercation with another athlete, reports said.
The 29-year-old Etoundi had won a bronze medal in the 77kg class weightlifting at ongoing Commonwealth games but now facing ban from the international event on Thursday.
The athlete will reportedly face Glasgow Sheriff Court later on Thursday over assaulting a Welsh athlete Gareth Evans, reports revealed.
A Team Wales spokesperson confirmed that they are aware about the incident with involvement of one of the team members and currently they are assisting Scotland Police in some enquiries.
