South Africa wins Test series after 21 years against Sri Lanka at home

COLOMBO: South Africa has won the Test series after 21 years to draw second match against Sri Lanka on their home at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.

South Africa drew the second Test match following 369 runs target. Proteas could make 159 runs losing eight wickets in 5th day of Test.

First innings: Sri Lanka set the massive 421 runs trail with help of Mahela Jayawardene splendid 165 runs for Proteas batsmen in the second Test.

Skipper Angelo Mathews made his classic 63 runs while all-rounder Dilruwan Perera put his 70 runs for first innings.

Proteas could not provide a good start and team lost their all wickets on 282 runs. Only a skipper Hashim Amla made highest 139 runs.

Off-spinner Perera took most five wickets while left arm off-spinner Rangana Herath took four wickets in the first innings of second Test.

Second innings: Sri Lanka declared batting on more 229 runs after taking 139 runs lead by Proteas and set 369 runs target for winning the match.

Kumar Sangakkara scored 72 runs while Mathews put his 63 runs in the second innings.

Morne Morkal got four wickets of Sri Lankan players included Silva, Sangakkara, Vithanage and Herath.

Jayawardene got the player of the match for his brilliant performance while Dale Steyn got the player of the series for his best bowling.
