Qadri’s APC demands Shahbaz Sharif’s resignation over Model Town incident

ISLAMABAD: Five-point declaration of All Parties Conference Hosted by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has been issued on Sunday.

The five points of the declaration included, first Information Report (FIR) of the incident should be registered on the complaint filed by Minhaj-ul-Quran.

The APC strongly condemning the Model Town tragedy stated that the cruel operation on unarmed persons was tantamount to tearing justice into shreds.

The resolution demanded constitution of a commission comprising of three senior Judges of the Supreme Court, which could summon anyone including the prime minister.

All those from the government machinery involved in Model Town tragedy be dismissed and arrested for murders, while Shahbaz Sharif and other provincial ministers involved in the massacre should resign and submit themselves to the law and in case they do not resign the President should sack them, the resolution demanded.

The resolution further demanded that the FIR registered against the victims of Model Town tragedy be withdrawn and FIR be registered on the complaint of Minhajul Quran.

The statement added that IG Punjab, DIG, Home Secretary, DCO and CCPO should be sacked and arrested. The participants of the APC demanded formation of a full bench of the Supreme Court to probe the incident.

The APC vowed to extend full support to Pakistan Army in Operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorist in North Waziristan. The participants of the APC also announced to extend their complete support for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Earlier, All Parties Conference (APC) hosted by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) started at Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat to discuss Model Town tragedy.

Opening the conference Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahhirul Qadri thanked all the parties participating in the conference.

Talking to media before the beginning of the conference, the PAT chief termed the Model Town incident as state terrorism committed by Punjab government. He said that APC was being held on a single point agenda to discuss Model Town tragedy. Qadri also said that APC was not intended to discuss any political move but the Model Town episode with other political parties.

On his arrival at Minhaj-ul-Quran, PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi said that the Punjab CM should tender his resignation for the transparent investigation into the incident. AML chief Sheik Rashid Ahmad said that all political parties would throng D-Chowk and a movement would be launched after Ramadan.

MQM’s leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said his party believes in change of system and it will raise voice for change at all forums.

Delegations from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) Niazi group, arrived at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Raza Kasuri from All Pakistan Muslim League said that the government was setting a wrong example of governance. He said that the prime minister’s speech in favor operation was scripted by the General Head Quarters.

Delegations from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) Niazi group, arrived at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat.

It is worth mentioning here that more than a dozen PAT workers were killed and 90 others injured during clash when police tried to remove barricades outside Minhajul Quran Secretariat.
