Spain cut out of World Cup after Chile lose

RIO DE JANERIO: Defending champions Spain crashed out of the World Cup on Wednesday after losing 2-0 to Chile in their second defeat in five days.

Chile’s victory — through goals from Eduardo Vargas and Charles Arranguiz — took them and the Netherlands through to the last 16 from Group B.

The former champion Spain showed a worst performance following the two major defeats against Netherlands by 5-1 and Chile by 2-0 in the World Cup 2014.
