LAHORE: Defence Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Asif said he completely undertake the responsibility of claiming Geo TV as anti-state.
While talking in a talk show on a private TV channel on Wednesday, Asif said he advocates the freedom of media but cannot allow any discrimination.
Pakistan armed forces are guarding the country for last 7 to 8 years and soldiers are dying. The least we can do is to respect our forces, said Asif.
When somebody endangers our institutions and the lives of our soldiers then we need to choose a clear stance, expressed Asif.
Defence Minister said that he has accused Geo on right ground and Geo has all the rights to defend itself while Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is supposed to play referee in this situation.
PEMRA should not take pressure from any side. Asif does not want to impose his opinion on the regulatory body.
Asif also shared that he will protect all the institutions that come under his responsibility and if his conscience finds anything wrong then he will resign.
