ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that the government is against terrorists and stands firmly with institutions of national security.
He lauded national security institutions for effectively pursuing anti-terrorism strategy.
Talking to media persons in Islamabad on Wednesday afternoon, Pervaiz Rashid paid rich tributes to the army officers and Jawans, who laid down their lives in two terrorist attacks.
To a question, he said the strategy decided by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to address the menace of terrorism is being implemented by national security institutions.
Replying to another question about allegations of some opposition leaders that the government deliberately delayed the matter regarding issuance of national identity card and Pakistani passport to MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, the minister said this is irresponsible statement.
He pointed out that Aitzaz Ahsan’s PPP remained in power for five years and why they could not issue passport and identity card to Mr. Altaf Hussain.
He said it is irresponsible attitude to criticize government unnecessarily and try to mislead people. He said Aitzaz Ahsan should know that what his remarks could do in Karachi where government of his own party is in power.
He wondered whether Aitzaz wanted to create problems for his own provincial government in Sindh.
The Minister said immediately after knowing about arrest of Mr. Altaf Hussain London, the Prime Minister directed Pakistani High Commission there to contact the MQM leader to know what type of legal or moral assistance the government can extend to him.
He said the government would do in the case of Altaf Hussain what it does for any Pakistani facing any difficulty in any part of the globe.
He said the Government would play its role in this regard.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid said it is responsibility of every one to help secure Karachi.
He said no one sitting in Islamabad should try to create problems in Karachi especially when its consequences could be negative for the opposition as well.
He said all those who have some influence in Karachi should play their role to defuse the situation in the city.
To another question, he said Imran Khan listened to the address of President Mamnoon Hussain to the joint session of the Parliament with interest and this shows he believes in parliamentary system.
