ISLAMABAD: Opposition political parties in the Pakistan’s upper house on Monday announced to boycott the President’s joint session before commencement of second parliamentary year.
The decision was taken following continuous absence of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from the senate sessions.
A high-level meeting held in the federal capital Islamabad led by leader of opposition parties in senate, Aitzaz Ahsan, in order to finalise strategy to protest against federal government.
The meeting was attended by the opposition members of upper house belonging to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Balochistan National Party (BNP) Awami, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q).
According to sources, ANP recommended to boycott the joint session of upper and lower houses, in which President of Pakistan is going to address today before opening of new parliamentary year of National Assembly.
On the other hand, opposition political parties in Pakistan’s lower house are also holding a consultative meeting to finalise decision whether to attend the President’s address or not.
