ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has reached New Delhi at 11’o clock today (Monday) for the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Bhartiya Janta Party’s Narendra Modi.
Pakistani delegation, that accompanies PM, comprises of National Security and Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatmi and his Secretary Javed Aslam.
PM was directly taken to hotel Taj Man Singh. Besides high level officials, Nawaz’s sons Hassan and Hussain also went along with him.
According to Indian media, Nawaz Sharif ‘s daughter Maryam Nawaz was also suppose to join her father in India but her tour could not be finalised.
After the partition of the Indian subcontinent, it’s for the first time that Pakistan’s prime minister will attend the swearing-in ceremony of his Indian counterpart.
PM is expected to address a press conference with Indian media at 4pm today. After that, he will participate in the ceremony at 6pm.
PM will also attend the dinner given by Shri Pranab Mukherjee at night.
And he will have an official meeting with Modi on Tuesday at 12 pm.
