NEW DEHLI: Narendra Modi has become 15th Prime Mininter of India as he took oath of his premiership administered by Parnab Mukherji, president of India.
The oath taking ceremony was held in Rashtrapati Bhavan (President House) and attended by more than four thousand foreign and Indian dignitaries.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attended the ceremony along with SAARC member countries head, Srilanka’s president Mahinda Rajapaksa and Afghan president Hamid Karzai.
Other leaders of SAARC countries included Prime Minister Nepal, Sushil Koirala, Mauritius Prime Minister, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan and Speaker of Bangladeshi parliament  Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
The ceremony also attended by all existing governors and chief ministers of India, former presidents of India Pratibha Patil and A P J Abdul Kalam and present Indian army chief Bukram Singh. The Congress party president Sonia Gandhi, vice president of the party Rahul Gandhi and out going prime minister Manmohan Sindh also present on the occasion.
The Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Viveek Obroi, Hema Malini, Shatrughan Sinha were also participants of the ceremony.
On the occasion stringent security measures had been taken as more than six thousand personnel were deployed along with aerial supervision.
