ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said the Sindh Government’s decision to remove AIG Shahid Hayat is imprudent and the Chief Minister Sindh should review the decision.
He said AIG Police Shahid Hayat is a good police officer and the Sindh Government has itself chosen him.
The Minister assured the people of Karachi that the Federal Government will continue to monitor operation in Karachi.
In a statement issued from Islamabad on Friday, he said law and order is basically the responsibility of the provincial government.
The Minister said the Prime Minister had taken the initiative last year keeping in view the gravity of the situation in Karachi.  He convened the cabinet meeting and extended full cooperation to the Sindh Government.
It was decided that the provincial government will lead the operation and the Chief Minister Sindh will be captain of the operation.
He said during the last eleven months, the Prime Minister visited Karachi for ten times and reviewed the operation.
He said Rangers remained at the disposal of the provincial government and Director General Rangers Sindh himself looked after the operation.
