ISLAMABAD: Five Pakistani cricketers on Friday faced fines Rs500,000 ($5,000 each) by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over participation in an unauthorised Twenty20 (T20) tournament in United States.
The fined players include a fast bowler, allrounder and three batsmen who were engaged in Friendship Cup T20 tournament in Houston held last month.
Fast bowler Wahab Riaz, allrounder Abdul Razzaq, opening batsmen Nasir Jamshed, middle order batsman Fawad Alam and Shahzeb Hasan.
On the other hand, all fined players argued that they were unaware about taking any approval from the board for joining any tournament, AP reported.
However, PCB rejected the reasons provided by the players regarding unawareness about seeking No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the board and fined them with Rs500,000.
The decision came forward after formation of PCB three-member committee, comprises domestic cricket director Intikhab Alam, general manager of vigilance and security Azam Khan and international cricket manager Usman Wahla, in order to investigate participation of its players in the tournament.
It should be mentioned that Wahab Riaz,Fawad Alam and Nasir Jamshed were amongst the fourty players who took part in Pakistan’s summer training camp organised Lahore.
