ISLAMABAD: Authorities have confirmed that consumers living in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will have to wait a bit more for 3G and 4G technology, reported ProPakistan.pk
Information Memorandum published for the 3G and 4G spectrum auction clearly stated that the licences are available for telecom operators to work in Pakistan, excluding Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
Information Memorandum read;
“A License for spectrum awarded in the NGMSA provides exclusive use of the frequencies licensed to that Operator. The services permitted are governed by each specific License (see 2.1.3 below). The territorial extent of each License is the whole of Pakistan excluding Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).”
It is interesting to note here that 3G free trial have been offered in Islamabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Quetta by cellular companies and this limited trial has left many consumers wondering if telecom operators will launch 3G/4G in other cities of Pakistan or not.
