KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday threatened to shut down Karachi for one year over non-issuance of National Identity Card (NIC) and Pakistani passport of party chief Altaf Hussain.
MQM senator Tahir Mashhadi alleged Pakistan’s interior ministry misinformed senate’s standing committee that Altaf Hussain did not submit application for passport and NIC.
Tahir Mashhadi said his leader Altaf hussain has paid fees for the passport and NIC on April 4 but the government had not responded yet.
Later, MQM member staged walk out from the senate session.
