ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has shown dissatisfaction over prolonged power load shedding duration in the country and instructed reduce load-shedding to six hours in urban centers and seven hours in rural areas.
The PM presided a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, on the occasion, he directed to sort out problems connecting to fuel supplies to power houses within three days.
Nawaz Sharif said uninterrupted fuel supply to power houses would help bring 630 megawatt electricity to the national grid. He instructed to use Pakistan Railways for the transportation of fuel to power plants.
The Prime Minister pledged to add 3500 megawatt electricity to the national grid by the end of current month.
Assuring the more energy, the PM said one thousand megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid on Sunday and 6030 megawatt electricity will be brought to the system through additional supply of fuel to Muzaffargarh and Jamshoro power plants.
Nawaz Sharif issues directives to immediately shift gas from fertilizer industry to power sector and reduce gas supply to CNG sector partially to add additional 592 MW power to the system.
He also directed to reactivate the dormant power stations.
The high level meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq.
At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed about load management plan for next coming three months.
