DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Angry mob on Saturday set afire a part of sugar mill during protests against the deaths of 13 people. Soon after the funerals, angry villagers also pelted stones at the main gate of the mill and broke open its gate.
The police resorted to tear gas shelling and stray firing to disperse the angry crowd and more force had been called to control the situation.
Police have registered a case against seven people including the owner of the mill while six officials of the mills had been arrested so far.
The owner, according to police, was still absconding and a search was in progress for his arrest.
On Friday, at least 13 people drowned in contaminated water in DI Khan while another fifteen were rushed to the hospital in unconscious condition.
An eight-year-old girl fell into contaminated water discharged from a local factory. At least 13 labourers jumped in to save her life but could not survive the contamination. Those deceased include women and children.
