ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) is furious over the denial of 500 visa applications of pilgrims, who intended to attend the upcoming “Urs” of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, by India, media reported.
Pakistan Foreign office summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner and conveyed its thorough disappointment over India’s decision to not allow 500 Pakistani pilgrims to be a part of Sufi saint’s ‘urs’.
“The visits to religious shrines in Pakistan and India are governed under the Bilateral Protocol on Visits to the Religious Shrines, 1974,” Pakistan Foreign Ministry said in an official statement.
“This is not only against the bilateral agreement, but also runs contrary to the efforts towards normalising ties between the two countries and the spirit of people-to-people contacts,” the statement added.
According to FO stats, India has declined visas from Pakistan four times in last year.
